Last updated on JUNE 26, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Pricing Design Center - Version 11.2.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Context:

1) PDC database tuning parameters are recommended by Oracle in documentation:

        https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E97173_01/doc.112/e97175/ins_preinstall.htm#PDCIN179

2) The following are "Database Initialization Parameters" mentioned in the above document.

Parameter                         Recommended value
----------                            -------------
distributed_lock_timeout     7200
dml_locks                          9700
plsql_code_type                 Native

Question:

1) What is the reason to have distributed_lock_timeout 7200 (2 hours)? For BRM Database one used to have this value as 60. Site DBA says that 7200 is too high value.
2) The parameter "plsql_code_type" for BRM Database is "INTERPRETED". But for PDC recommended value is "Native". Can one use "INTERPRETED" for PDC? What is the reason for recommending "Native" for PDC Database.
