Migrate Tool Does Not Error Out if It Runs Out of Memory. It Continues and Loads Tables With 0 Rows (Doc ID 2571342.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 16, 2019

Applies to:

Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management - Version 18.8 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

When using the migrate.bat tool, if the heap is not large enough, instead of erroring out, the migration process continues without error, instead loading 0 rows of data for the rest of the P6 tables and then continuing on with the rest of the object creation.

ADDITIONAL

This happens with both 18.8 and 18.8.7, on Oracle 12.1.0.2 and 12.2.0.1 DB versions.

Examine databasemigration.log and search for "table load". Many tables will have 0 rows loaded even though the source tables have data in them.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

For the migrate.bat tool to provide an error if the heap is not large enough.
