Unable to add Header or Footer to a generated Patient Data Report (PDR) when fonts are embedded. (Doc ID 2571847.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 01, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Clinical Remote Data Capture Option - Version 5.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

i.
It is possible to embed the full characterset for a font within the generated Patient Data Report to ensure the PDF looks as intended on any client machine. This is done by including the '-cfg' argument in the Desktop PDR command line (this argument references the location of the 'xdobookbinder.cfg' file).

ii.
However if a PDR is generated with the fonts embedded and subsequently opened in Adobe Acrobat Standard or Pro to add page numbers as the 'footer' (or a header) then the following error is returned :

"An error was encountered while retrieving page contents"

iii.
On the other hand if the PDR is generated *without* the '-cfg' argument so only the characters used in the report get embedded and not the whole characterset then the above error does not occur / all is ok.
