Can the Diameter Validity-Time AVP be Dynamically Set? (Doc ID 2576344.1)

Last updated on MARCH 27, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 4.3.0 and later
Oracle Communications Convergent Charging Controller - Version 6.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

On all versions of Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control (OCNCC or NCC) and Oracle Communications Convergent Charging Controller (OC3C or 3C), is it possible to dynamically set the Validity-Time Attribute Value Pair (AVP) being returned to the network in the Diameter Control Agent (DCA)?

The Validity-Time AVP is used to set the latest time the next Credit Control Request (CCR) must arrive by no matter how much of the Granted Service Units (GSU) has been consumed.

It may be desirable to dynamically alter this value to prevent excessive load due to a high number of no/low usage updates during busy periods of the day.
