Unable to Load Custom Fields with load_config

Symptoms
On all versions of Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management (BRM) up to 12.0.0.0.0 inclusive, it is not possible to use load_config to load data into custom classes with field names that do not start with "PIN_FLD_".
Attempting to do so will result in an aborted transaction when executing load_config:
The exception is a "PIN_ERR_BAD_ARG" which is thrown by dm_oracle when attempting to validate the input.
As a result, no or partial data is inserted into the custom class/table.
