Number/String Length Regular Expression Support in SMCB Rating Rules (Doc ID 2607421.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 05, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control - Version 4.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

On Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control (OCNCC or NCC), the Short Message Charging Bundle (SMCB) module offers flexible rating options for the rating of Short Message Service (SMS) messages based on the Source number, Destination numbers, and Content fields of the SMS.

This is configured using Regular Expressions (regex) in the Rating Rules tab of the SMCB configuration screen:

From the documentation, only the following regex options are supported:

Regular expressions can contain anchors ('^' and '$'), groups ('[ ]') and wild cards ('*' ):
  • '^' anchors the expression to the start of the string
  • '$' anchors the expression to the end of the string
  • '[ ]' groups characters into a class, for example [0-9] means any number
  • '*' repeats the previous character class zero or more times, such as '[0-9]*'

Is it possible to support wildcards as well as certain number lengths?
