Sometimes The Wrong Sz= Value Is Recorded On Dequeue

Sometimes the sz= recorded on the dequeue is significantly smaller than the corresponding enqueue.
Here is an example:
index=email_core sourcetype=email_mta dc=tcp_* ac=E* host=<host> | eval esz=sz | join fi [ search index=email_core sourcetype=email_mta sc=tcp_* ac=D* host=<host> | eval dsz=sz ] | where dsz<esz | table host, mi, esz, dsz
found 48,000 entries in the last 15 minutes, where the dequeue size was less than the enqueue size.
The largest discrepancy that was found was enqueue sz=73910, dequeue sz=2.
The smallest was enqueue sz=3, dequeue sz=2.
It is expected that the size of the message should not change between the enqueue and the dequeue.
