MMX Failed To Deliver An MT SMS Containing Emoji Character (Doc ID 2622389.1)

Symptoms

On Oracle Communications Convergent Charging Controller (OC-3C) 6.0.1 version, Messaging Manager (MMX) having SMPP(Short Message Peer to Peer) as inbound adapter and MAP(Mobile Application Part ) as outbound adapter is failing to deliver an MT SMS (Mobile Terminated Short Message Service) with an iPhone or Samsung emoji character.

The following error is logged by xmsTrigger in the part related to outbound adapter MAP:

To be noted this error is occurring when data_coding field of the incoming message is set to "0x08" which corresponds to UCS2-BE alphabet.

A similar message which has data_coding field of the incoming message set to "0x00", which corresponds to ISO-8859-1 alphabet, is delivered.
