P6 Professional Goes To "Not Responding" Message When Loading Large Projects (Doc ID 2622852.1)

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
When users attempt to open a large project (Example: 13,000 activities), loading data gets hung at 97% for about 10-20 seconds then "Not Responding". Eventually, 30-45 seconds later, the project will open, but, this also takes some time.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
For the users to be able to open large projects without delay.

STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Launch P6 Professional
  2. Attempt to open a large project (5000+ activities)
  3. While the application is loading data, continue to click around in the application
  4. Observe the "Not Responding" message is displayed to let the user know the application is completing the task
  5. The "Not Responding" message clears once the project opens
