Symptoms

When running the Publish Audit Data Global Schedule Service for a P6 database hosted in a Microsoft SQL Server instance, the job fails and the following error occurs in the log file.

[TASK]:[PxAuditServiceTaskImpl]: [1] CORE(BRE): Executing: px_audit_demand...
SEVERE: [TASK]:[PxAuditServiceTaskImpl]: [1] CORE(BRE): Invalid length parameter passed to the LEFT or SUBSTRING function.

 

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Run the Publish Audit Data Global Scheduled Service on a SQL Server database.
  2. The job fails.
  3. View the reported error in the job's log file.
