Goal
How does Elastic Search (or ISS) work with S/MIME encryption?
In some environments, S/MIME encryption is being used more and more.
What will Elastic Search do with such messages?
Does the Messaging Server component, when inserting the message into the Store, also send the raw message to Elasticsearch?
It seems that a server-side search (performed by imapd, ISS, or Elastic) will never be able to do anything useful for body searches. Headers, yes sure. But, the body is encrypted and only the sender and the recipient have the keys.
Is there any provision for this in the standards?
Will Elastic Search flag such messages somehow and avoid ingesting the encrypted body?
