File Replication Locks File-Avoids Simultaneously Replication To Multiple Sites (Doc ID 2651127.1)

Last updated on MARCH 22, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Agile Engineering Data Management - Version 6.2.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 6.2.1.0 version, Client

source files are locked while replicated to DFM sites. The file record is locked from start until the end of the transfer and this can take a long time. With large files/distances and/or low bandwidth this leads to massive obstruction of users (for example, repeated 3D CAD memory operations).

Expected Behavior

source files should not be locked while replicated to DFM sites.

Steps to Reproduce

The file record is locked from start until the end of the transfer and this
can take a long time, example:
File site 1 = A, File site 2 = B, File site 3 = C

Case 1: Replication A --> C is running, replication of A--> B must be able to
run in parallel (this does not work & the reason not shown)

Case 2: Replication A --> C is running, try to change save changes at A, this
does not work.

But this must be allowed and the Replication process must be stopped with an
error. (new Replication Jobs are indeed created)
With large files/distances and/or low bandwidth this leads to massive
obstruction of users (for example, repeated 3D CAD memory operations).
