Authpassword Channel Option Is Not Working

Information in this document applies to any platform.
A SMTP channel is configured as SASL client with mustsaslclient channel parameter (all emails handled by that channel must be sent to a smarthost with SMTP AUTH).

After messaging server was upgraded to 8.0.2.x, the authentication to the smarthost is not working anymore.
The channel is configured as follows:
Messaging Server was upgraded to version 22.214.171.124.
