AutoVue Server Not Starting, Log Shows Error "Unable to create markup directory" (Doc ID 2703456.1)

Symptoms

When using AutoVue Client/Server Deployment and trying to start the AutoVue server, the server console comes up with the message "Server starting up, please wait..." for a few seconds and then abruptly exits with out error.

From the AutoVue server log, the following error is found:

<log4j:throwable><![CDATA[java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unable to create markup directory.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Try to start the AutoVue server.
  2. Open the AutoVue server log.
