PFT 8.1 Pre and Post Scripts Data Model Patch 31484076 (Doc ID 2737595.1)

Goal

User is upgrading from PFT 8.0.7.4 to PFT 8.1. As part of the upgrade, user will be executing <Patch 31484076> PROFITABILITY 8.1.0.0.0 ERWIN DATA MODEL.

The patch readme has the following steps to follow:

OFS_PFT_Datamodel.erwin files provided in this patch can be used for customizing/merging the data model as per the requirement.
Extract all the files from the archive.
Follow the following steps for uploading the customized/merged data model.

1) For erwin version 9.8, get OFS_PFT_Datamodel.erwin file from \31484076\Data Model\erwin_v9.8 folder and open it using erwin tool.
2) Customize/merge the xxxx.erwin file as per the requirement.
3) Save as xml in "AllFusion Repository Format" ex:- "OFS_PFT_Datamodel.xml".
4) Copy the xml to the erwinXML folder ex:- PFTshare//erwin/erwinXML/.
5) Before uploading the model execute SQL Scripts available at \31484076\Data Model\SQLScripts
    a. For Fresh Installer execute scripts under \SQLScripts\fresh\pre\ .
    b. For upgrade Installer execute scripts under \SQLScripts\upgrade\pre\. 
6) Trigger model upload.
7) After uploading the model execute SQL Scripts available at \31484076\Data Model\SQLScripts
    a. For Fresh Installer execute scripts under \SQLScripts\upgrade\post.
    b. For upgrade Installer execute scripts under \SQLScripts\upgrade\post.

Note: For Unix, Grant Execute permission (740) permissions for all files under the patch folder.

Is step 5b, drop and re-create tables needed? Can it be skipped? 
Some of the tables that being drop and re-create contains large number of data and user has not done customization.
For example STG_CUSTOMER_RELATION is being drop and re-create in Prescript_Backup_Drop_Tables_81.sql.
