Symptoms

When attempting to configure a database alias for a new P6 PPM 20.12 SQL Server database, the following error occurs:

ERROR

Bad private user name or password. Check the public group ID. Invalid object name 'PUBUSER.'

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1.  Create a brand new P6 PPM 20.12 SQL Server database using DBSetup.bat.

2.  From the P6 PPM client 20.12 login window, click "Edit database configuration?" link.

3.  Click "Add".

4.  Select Driver Type:  "Microsoft SQL Server/SQL Express"

5.  Enter the connection string using this format:  ServerName/DatabaseName

4.  Observe after clicking "Next" and providing the public login information, the reported error is received.
