Are Network Edge / Pipe / Connectivity Role Enabled? (Doc ID 2751630.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 27, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Unified Inventory Management - Version 7.4.1.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Based on the documentation ("UIM Concepts"), Pipes and Network Edges are Role enabled. Refer to the "Roles" chapter. I think this is not working:

1) Network Edge: in DS, there is not dedicated section for "Roles" in the "Related Specifications". If the related Roles are added to the "Other" section, UIM (run-time) doesn't create them. There are not DB entries in the ROLE table.

2) Network Topological View: in the User Interface, in "Networks//Visualization/Network Topological View", the "filtering" functionality ignores the roles assigned to Pipes

3) Question: is "Connectivity" Role enabled too?

We would like to filter, in the "Networks//Visualization/Network Topological View" panel, only the LD and Connectivity, that are related to specific Roles. Alternatively, to filter Network Nodes and Network Edges, related to specific Roles.

In a Network there could be a huge volume of Entities (even in a single Property Location), and we would like to use a label for filtering. "Role" could be a this kind of label.
