EBS-PS: PS Solver Not Respecting User Defined Ideal Sequence for DRA Algorithm with Scheduling Bucket Option Enabled and Not Schedule Work Orders with Similar Attributes Together (Doc ID 2781185.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 13, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Production Scheduling - Version 12.2.6 to 12.2.6 [Release 12.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When user defined ideal sequence (UDIS) is setup using Pre-Build with Dynamic Resource Allocation (DRA) policy and scheduling buckets enabled, PS does not schedule orders in the sequence as setup in UDIS and not group and schedule work orders with similar attributes together.

Steps:

  1. Create multiple attributes in PS (size as Large/Small, pack as 5/10 and color as Black/White)
  2. Assign the corresponding attributes to end items based on the size, pack and color combination.
  3. Define user defined ideal sequence (UDIS) as follows (size - Large, small followed by Pack - 5,10 and Color - Black,White)
  4. Assign attribute properties to the resources and operations
  5. Solve PS model
  6. Review the resource sequence in Gantt view and observe that operations are sequenced using attribute values Size, color and pack instead of size, pack and color
