Goal
As described in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specification 29.002, a Location Information Evolved Packet System (LocationInformationEPS) Information Element (IE) can be used to pass in the Cell Global Identifier and Tracking Area Identity of the handset being used to access a particular mobile service service. This is passed in the Initial Detection Point (InitialDP or IDP).
The LocationInformationEPS IE is described in the aforementioned specification as:
On all versions of Oracle Communications Network Charging and Control (OCNCC or NCC) and Oracle Communications Convergent Charging Controller (OC3C or 3C), up to and including 12.0.3.0, this LocationInformationEPS IE is not extracted and is therefore not available in the Call Context when executing an ACS Control Plan (CP).
From 3C/NCC 12.0.4.0 and above, this area has been enhanced to extract this information and will be explained in more detail below.
