"Entered URL is not valid" Error Clicking Link in a Hyperlink Picker DE

Symptoms
When accessing Unifier using Android mobile app, users receive the error below when clicking on a link in a hyperlink Data Element (DE).

Entered URL is not valid
STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Login Android application
2. Open the record
3. Click Hyperlink Picker data element containing special characters on the form
4. Error is received
BUSINESS IMPACT

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot open URL in mobile application.
