Unable To Efficiently Delete Leaves and Key Dimensions in a Static Table Driver

Goal
On PFT 8.1.0.0.0, due to changes in Static Table Driver code, it seems that it is not possible to do the following:
Question 1: Efficiently delete leaves in static table drivers. It is necessary to open the screen which lists ALL of the dimension members and scroll through to find every check mark and uncheck it. For dimensions which have thousands of members this is very inefficient and impossible to ensure to validate within the application since not all checked items are in one screen.
Question 2: While it is documented in the PFT 8.1 User Guide that "You cannot add or delete Key/Target dimensions after defining the Static Table Driver". Why was this change done as a useful feature is now lost?
