Last updated on AUGUST 12, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Autovue for Agile Product Lifecycle Management - Version 21.0.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

AutoVue 21.0.2.x for Agile PLM is installed on the File Manager which is separate from the application server. The "AutoVue client libraries" component and the "AutoVue Server" component were both installed on the File Manager/AutoVue server.
When attempting to view a file attachment with AutoVue for Agile  from Agile PLM Web Client. The user instantly gets the error message in the Web Client window:

"The AutoVue client did not start successfully. Please ensure that the server is running and the generated JNLP is launched. You can contact the system administrator for extending the delay required before assuming AutoVue startup failure. "

In fact the AutoVue jnlp file is not launched and not shown in Windows notification bar.

There is no Java console log, since Java was not launched either but the Chrome F12 browser log shows this error :

misc-min.js:1 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)
G  misc-min.js:1
misc-min.js:1 Autovue initialized failed
misc-min.js:1 POST http://<server_name>:7001/Agile/VueRDVServlet?RequestType=INIT_SESSION 500 (Internal Server Error)

Steps to reproduce

  1. Log into Agile Web Client
  2. Select a file from the attachment tab of a part object
  3. Click on the View tab then the option view from the drop down list
  4. The above message instantly appears on the Web Client page
