Opening Batch Job Log File Ending With .gz Gives Message "It Does Not Appear To Be Valid Achieve" (Doc ID 2830678.1)

Symptoms

When downloading a stdout file from the batch control tree, for example CMFLBIL.20211203110639.12.THD1.stdout.gz, the message "It does not appear to be valid" occurs.
The file is on the server and can be opened with unzip tool winzip or 7zip. Why does it not work from the batch control tree?
