P6 EPPM Web Randomly Becomes Unresponsive, Causing the Need to Restart the P6 Managed Server (Doc ID 2830771.1)

Symptoms

Periodically, the P6 EPPM Web environment becomes unavailable, with the following errors captured in the P6WebAccess.html log file:

ERROR

Immediately after P6 is started the following error is captured.

<TIMESTAMP>, COT PrmThread-3 ERROR com.primavera.infr.admin.XmlMgr Error getting setting: Services.TeamMemberEmailNotification.EnableEmailForTimesheetReviewer Cannot find item: TeamMemberEmailNotification. Your configuration is out-of-date.

Later in the log the following gets captured.

com.primavera.infr.db.SQLConnectionPool - Unable to retrieve server date IO Error: Socket read interrupted. ERROR_CODE: 17002
com.primavera.infr.db.SQLConnectionPool - 1 db connections from pool PML were cleared due to validation failures for database:

This issue can also be accompanied by a distinct spike in CPU usage on the database server.

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Users work in the P6 EPPM environment normally until which time the application becomes unresponsive.

Restarting the P6 managed server via the WebLogic Console remedies the issue for a time, but, is not a valid solution since the issue will consistently reoccur.

Changes

The environment was upgraded, but, the configuration being used by P6 EPPM Web was not.
