Missing BRS Statistics In Diameter Gateway (Doc ID 2835663.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 11, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications BRM - Elastic Charging Engine - Version 12.0.0.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Customer found that Diameter Gateway (DGW) Batch Rating Server (BRS) statistics are missing on the following parameters (as seen from jconsole):

AcceptedTaskResponseCount,
MessageReceiveCount,
MessageSendCount

Expectation:

AcceptedTaskCount --> this value shows that any given point of time, how many total tasks are accepted by Elastic Charging Server (ECS) node since the ECE was restarted. Similarly there should be a running statistics counter which should show how many requests are responded from the accepted task count. i.e. AcceptedTaskResponseCount

MessageReceiveCount & MessageResponseCount --> this value shows how many messages are received and how many responded as a running statistic counter since the ECE cluster restarted.

When there is an issue in ECS, it will be clearly evident from these statistics that ECS is not responding at the same speed as the requests are accepted or ECS responses are missing. These counters could add additional evidence about ECS behavior during crisis periods. There is no other place to get this information apart from enabling BRS chronicler on reactive basis after the incident happened.
