The XER Import Process Takes an Hour or More for Some Projects (Doc ID 2864266.1)

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

Import of some XER files takes a very long time, up to multiple hours.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

XER import should only take a few minutes.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. In P6 Professional, import the XER file, accept all of the defaults, and click 'Finish'.
  2. The 'Loading Activity ####' window pops up, then P6 almost immediately goes to 'Not Responding'.
  3. After a LONG time, the process appears to pick up again and completes in just a few minutes.
