Symptoms

1)
The 'Â' character appears on top of the actual correct character in a custom PDF Report (built with the Oracle Reports Builder tool) i.e.

 

2)
All OK if the reports output type is Excel (XLS) i.e.

 

3)
Issue started to happen after upgrading reports to a newer FMW release (12.2.1.4). All was OK in the previous FMW release (11g R2).
