How to Control Location of NSPR SSL Cache File on MMP (and enpd)? (Doc ID 2899822.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 30, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 8.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

On the Oracle Communications Messaging (store / backends) Server, with the config option instance.base.tmpdir set to '/dev/shm/<PATH_TO_TMP_DIR>/' and lsof shows that imapd creates files such as:

/dev/shm/<PATH_TO_TMP_DIR>/.NSPR-AFM-139518-ca9a50.0

But on the MMP, setting base.tmpdir seems to have no effect on where AService creates that file:

For example:

/app/mailsvct/msg/config/.NSPR-AFM-34834-848680.0

So, the question is:

What option controls where AService puts that file?

Also, on systems where SSL port is enabled (ens.enablesslport = 1), enpd is not seen using such an NSPR cache file.

Further, if the following steps are performed:

# stop-msg mmp
# set instance.base.tmpdir = /dev/shm/<PATH_TO_TMP_DIR>/
# start-msg mmp

It creates that directory (if it does not already exist). However, it does not seem to get used.

lsof definitely still shows the NSPR SSL cache file is created in the config directory instead.
