Performance Degradation While Running a P6 Professional Report Based on Resource Assignment Data When Resource Analysis Preference "All Closed Projects" Is Enabled (Doc ID 2901260.1)

When executing a P6 Professional report based on Activity Resource Assignments, there is an extreme delay after the Loading Data / Loading Summary bar completes and before the report output is created/displayed, when the following User Preferences are set:

The issue cannot be reproduced when the User Preferences > Resource Analysis > All Projects option is set to Opened projects only.


The issue can be reproduced at will using the following steps:

  1. Login to P6 Professional.
  2. Setup required user preferences:
    1. Click Edit > User Preferences.
    2. Click Startup Filters.
    3. Enable Resource summary data.
    4. Click Resource Assignments.
    5. Select All closed projects (except what-if projects).
    6. Click OK.
  3. Logout/Login to P6 Professional
  4. Import a project:
    1. Click File > Import....
    2. Choose XER format
    3. Import the file.
  5. Import the report:
    1. Click Tools > Reports > Reports.
    2. Right-click a report group and select Import....
    3. Import the file.
    4. Set Report Scope = Current ProjectReport.
  6. Run the report:
    • Right-click Report > Run > Report.
    • Choose Delimited Text File output then click OK.
  7. Note the reported performance issue.
