Project Cannot Be Updated Via XML Import When Opened Exclusively

Information in this document applies to any platform.
When opening a project exclusively, receive following message when trying to update the project via XML import as the user that has opened the project exclusively:
"The project xxxx cannot be updated because it is opened exclusively, checked out, or another user has the project open."
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- Log into P6 Pro.
- Open project exclusively.
- Import XML to update project that is opened exclusively.
