Project Mis-Match Between Activity Relationships and Activities (Doc ID 2913314.1)

The following steps cause a Project mis-match between Activity Relationships and Activities:


Project mis-match between Activity Relationships and Activities should be avoided if possible.


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. In P6 Pro, create 3 Projects "Project A", "Project B" and "Project C" with two activities in each.
  2. Open all three projects.
  3. On Activity "A1020 - Mover" in "Project A", add a predecessor to Activity "A1000 - E" in "Project C".
  4. Create a baseline for "Project C" using the "Save a copy of the current project" option and then restore that baseline as a new project, "Project C - B1".
  5. Open all four projects.
  6. Move the "Project A" activity "A1020 - Mover" to the "Project B" project via Cut/Paste.
  7. Close the "Project C - B1" project while keeping the other 3 projects open.
    1. Go to Projects page.
    2. Highlight "Project A", Project B" and "Project C".
    3. Right Click and select "Open Project.
  8. Add the "Project C - B1" project to the "Project C" project as a baseline using the "Convert another project" option.
  9. Using Cut/Paste, move the "Project A" activity "A1020 - Mover" activity back to the "Project A" project.
  10. Log out of P6 Pro
  11. Run Check #13 in P6 Check Project Integrity Utility: Description of Utility Including Detailed SQL Statements Executed (Doc ID 1083481.1)

    SELECT TASKPRED.task_id, TASKPRED.proj_id, TASK.proj_id FROM TASKPRED,TASK WHERE TASKPRED.task_id=TASK.task_id AND TASKPRED.proj_id <> TASK.proj_id;

  12. One row should be returned.
