UIM provides char extension framework to improve performance of search including characteristic. For details on char extension framework, see UIM Administration Guide

Many often customers complain of framework not working for Place entities even though they have added "GeographicPlace" in the list of enabled entities in system-config.properties & they can't find records getting inserted to PLACE_CHAR_EXT table despite the fact that entries getting added to PLACE_CHAR table.

This document helps you with the correct list of entities to be added in system-config.properties to enable char ext framework for Place entities.
