Job_controller Is Unresponsive After Restart (Doc ID 2922723.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 06, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Messaging Server - Version 8.1.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On: Oracle Communications Messaging Server 8.1.0.20.20220923

The job_controller unresponsive after a restart.

The following config change was made which involved performing "imsimta cnbuild" and "imsimta restart":

Top output showed job_controller using 100% CPU. This is on Linux, so that means 100% of a single CPU, not 100% of all the CPUs.

At the same time, the number of inbound SMTP connections went way up. That was probably because the tcp_smtp_server processes were stuck trying to notify job_controller of new messages.

A "kill -9" was performed on the job_controller process, causing watcher to restart it. After that was done, it was running fine.

This happened a few days ago on one system. Now it has happened again on that one and once on another system.
This also happened on the system after Messaging Server was restarted after patching to 8.1.0.20.20220923.
