Error "Unable to create connection from connect string. Cannot open database requested by the login." When Attempting to Connect to a Database via Databaselogins.bat/sh (Doc ID 2929837.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to establish a connection to a newly restored SQL Server database in the databaselogins.bat /.sh utility (as instructed in How to Administer the Private Database Login Username and Password for P6 EPPM or P6 Professional R8.x and Later Releases(Doc ID 1348248.1)), the following error occurs:

Unable to create connection from connect string <PrivateUser>/<Password>@<SQLServer>:<Port>:<DatabaseName>: SQLServerException (Cannot open database "<DatabaseName>" requested by the login.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Launch <P6 EPPM or P6 Professional installation media>\database\databaselogins.bat.
  2. Enter the database connection information then click Next.
  3. The reported error occurs.
