Clarification On ECM 8.1.2.3 - Post Installation Steps (Doc ID 2931671.1)

Goal

Trying to upgrade ECM 8.1.2.0 to 8.1.2.3 in Model Office environment .
Was going through ECM 8.1.2.3 installation document and found one newly created SMS Functions for app pack movement in Post Installation steps.
Can you clarify exactly what it is and is it mandatory to execute the same.

8. Perform the following steps to move the newly created SMS Functions for app pack movement:
a. Go to $FIC_HOME/utility/AppPckMastSynch/bin.
b. Open the AppPckMastSynch.sh shell file
c. Replace the token $PackName to OFS_ECM_PACK.
d. Execute the shell file: $ ./AppPckMastSynch.sh.
e. After execution is complete, replace OFS_ECM_PACK back to $PackName in
AppPckMastSynch.sh and close the file.
