Records Created via Reverse Auto-Populate Take Longer Than Expected to Create - Sometimes Even Several Days

Symptoms
When configured a Data Element (DE) in Business Process (BP) X to reverse auto-populate (RAP) the value in Destination BP: Y, noticed that for a few records the RAP has not happened at the expected time.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

The RAP should occur as per the settings in a couple of minutes and not at a later date.
STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
- Log into the environment
- Go to the Shell
- Go to BP
- Find specific record
- Go to the Audit log
- Go to the Reference Records
- Select destination BP
- Go to the Audit log
- The RAP was created on a later date
