After Installing Security Patches Mta.log shows IN Timer Expired Alarm (Doc ID 2944748.1)

Last updated on APRIL 28, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Convergent Charging Controller - Version 12.0.3.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

After installing security patches Patch 34639286 and Patch 34643117, which required Service Logic Execution Environment (SLEE) and Service Management System (SMS) restart, Service Logic Controller (SLCs) showed the following errors in mta.log:

After about 20 mins error message (and alarm on SMS) stopped on SMS1, but continued to appear on SMS2.

Performed rollback of patch 34639286 since it contains change related to NP_SERVICE_PACK module, but the status was the same - error was not sent from SMS1 but only from SMS2.
Then applied the patch back since there was no change, and after that error on SLC1, and it stopped appearing on SLC2.
Restarted SLEE on SLC1 and error stopped on SLC1 and no mta errors about IN Timer Expired.

What was the problem and is it service affecting?
