Continuous Growth Of The TBL_LARGE_DATA Table (Doc ID 2946745.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 01, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Communications ASAP - Version 7.3.0.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Continuous growth of the TBL_LARGE_DATA table:

The ASAP DB has a purge configured to run every day and this purges all work order data that is older than 30 days.
The DB size remained static until July 2021 when it started to grow. The only way to control it was to truncate the 16 tables that contain WO data.
This DB growth is likely due to a cartridge that has started to utilize the TBL_LARGE_DATA table, which has a BLOB column.
When I monitor the size of the DB objects, it is only the LOB segment for the BLOB column that grows. When the purge deletes rows from the TBL_LARGE_DATA table, the space is not reused. The only way to reclaim the space is to truncate the table or do some reorg/rebuild on it.
