EBS-PS: Operations In A Routing Are Not Scheduled Adjacent To Each Other If Firm Start Constraint Is Setup For One of The Operation (Doc ID 2950047.1)

Last updated on MAY 18, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Production Scheduling - Version 12.2.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

First operation in the routing is scheduled at the start of the planning horizon and not adjacent to the 2nd operation if the 2nd operation is setup with a firm start late in the planning period resulting in huge gap between 1st and rest of the operations.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Setup a routing with multiple operation steps
2. Create a work order
3. Setup firm start date constraint for the 2nd operation with firm start start date on 5/3/2023
4. Solve the model (Planning horizon start is 4/4/2023)
5. Observe the 1st operation is scheduled on 4/4/2023 and not adjacent to the 2nd operation scheduled on 5/3/2023
