Symptoms
When using external LDAP for authentication with OSM the performance is slow when there are a lot of OSM users. The following messages in the log can give an indication of how long the querying of users is taking.
<Jan 26, 2022 1:48:03,983 PM EST> <Info> <com.mslv.oms.j2ee.J2EEServiceWebLogic> <BEA-000000> <Searching for compatible authentication providers in default security realm - Running>
<Jan 26, 2022 1:48:28,493 PM EST> <Info> <com.mslv.oms.j2ee.J2EEServiceWebLogic> <BEA-000000> <Found[10005] application users through authentication provider[Security:Name=myrealmDefaultAuthenticator] - Running>
<Jan 26, 2022 1:48:28,496 PM EST> <Info> <com.mslv.oms.j2ee.J2EEServiceWebLogic> <BEA-000000> <Found a total of[10005] application users in group[[Ljava.lang.String;@66804ff9] across all compatible authentication providers - Completed>
In the above example the querying of 10005 users took 25 seconds. In some cases this can take several minutes which impacts startup and cache refresh times.
