Error 'The password entered does not match the existing password for user' When Creating a New SQL Server Database with Existing Database Accounts via the Command-Line Option of the 'dbsetup' Utility (Doc ID 2962550.1)

Symptoms

When using the command-line option of the dbsetup.bat utility and attempting to create an additional P6 database in a SQL Server or SQL Express instance using the existing privileged and public user accounts, the following error occurs.

The password entered does not match the existing password for user.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

  1. Create a P6 database in a new SQL Server instance as instructed in How to Create Additional Databases in a P6 EPPM Environment Using an SQL Server Database Platform (Doc ID 2195145.1).
  2. Attempt to create a second database using the existing privileged (default privuser) and public (default pubuser) database accounts via the command-line option of the dbsetup.bat utility as detailed in Automatic Database Wizard Installation or Upgrade Command Line Parameters Using DBSETUP (Doc ID 1299670.1).
  3. Observe the reported error.
