Last updated on MARCH 20, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Unified Assurance - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

User is following the documented steps to modify the retention time for kafka and the changes that have been made, do not work as expected, with the option "--zookeeper" showing as invalid.

It will throw an exception, and the option "--bootstrap-server" does proceed further in the process.

Running "$A1BASEDIR/vendor/kafka/bin/ --zookeeper localhost:2181 --describe --topic influxdb" times out and the server.log shows the following, warning message:

"WARN Close of session 0x0 (org.apache.zookeeper.server.NIOServerCnxn) Unreasonable length = 308375649"

Please note $A1BASEDIR is referring to the default Unified Assurance path.

Customer is attempting to update their kafka retention settings using the article 'Changing Kafka Retention Policies' located at https://<Primary Presentation Server WebFQDN>/docs/advanced-setup/metrics/changing-kafka-retention-policies/. Please note that <Primary Presentation Server WebFQDN> is primarily referring to the location of the onboard documentation available on all Unified Assurance installations, generally located on the Primary Presentation Server.
