Random and Unnecessary "password will expire within <NBR> days" Messages While Using Application After Logon (Doc ID 3023084.1)

Last updated on MAY 20, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Communications MetaSolv Solution - Version 6.3.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Users randomly receive unnecessary "password will expire within <NBR> days" messages while using the application after logon. The message is expected at logon when the user's password has expired, but in the grace period (DBA_USERS.ACCOUNT_STATUS = 'EXPIRED(GRACE)'). However, users should not randomly receive the message while working in the application. Note the behavior is observed after the user has let their application session sit for a period of time - for example, meetings, lunch break, etc. They can see this message 10 or more times in a single day without ever directly logging out and logging back in. The random messages occasionally causes the "hidden modal window/lost focus" issue that freezes the application and forces users to kill MetaSolv Solution using the Windows Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) which, in turn, may result in lost work from unsaved data.
