Symptoms

When summarizing a portfolio with a secure project code, the summarization job fails with the following error visible in the "Summarize Log":

ERROR

A fatal error has occurred. More information can be found in the server logs. Please contact your system administrator. logs.catastophic_failure

The following errors can also be found in the P6WebAccess.html|.log log file:

ERROR DB Id: ## com.primavera.bo.base.UpdateEngineImpl Error updating Business Object of type ProjectPortfolio with ID: <PORTFOLIO ID ASSIGNED TO SUMMARIZATION JOB>
com.primavera.bo.common.ProjectPortfolioExceedsLimitException: err.ProjPortUpdateExceedsLimit
ERROR DB Id: ## com.primavera.jobsvc.common.JobServiceExecutable Job error running job of type JT_Sum on <database>
ERROR DB Id: ## com.primavera.jobsvc.common.JobServiceExecutable Marking job id XXXXXXX as failure


STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Login to P6 Professional (admin/admin)
2. Click Enterprise --> Project Codes --> <ProjectCodeName>
3. Click "Add" and create Code Value and Code Description.
4. Click Modify --> Check the box for "Secure Code" for the Project Code.
5. Login to P6Web --> Portfolios --> Manage Portfolios --> Global --> Select <PortfolioName>
6. Click Administration --> Scheduled Services --> Project --> Add --> Summarize the job.
7. Observe the summarize job fails immediately. It does not even try to run.
