Goal
Using: Oracle Communications Messaging Server 8.1.0.1.20231019 64bit (built Oct 19 2023)
Q1:
We manage an email service and are running into a problem where our customers send emails to either an invalid domain (for testing purposes, customers would just randomly come up with an email address and send lots of emails), or in some cases, emails are sent to an inbox that is full. In our current configuration, we try to redeliver the emails for 5 days before we discard the emails:
In this case, we would like to discard emails based on the message Quota exceeded.
Q2:
What about other failures such as non-smtp types. Can those be discarded based on what the receiving server responds?
Examples:
- what if the MTA couldn’t make a connection at all
- or someone sends an email to abcccccccccc.com, so the message "unknown host or domain" appears
- or say the case of Failed connect() to TCP port 25 of IP1 IP2 IP3 IP4 IP5 IP6 last, errno = Connection timed out"
- or example.com does not have an mx record, but has A records.
How to make the above not try to send to all IPs?
Basically, the target is to automate everything and keep the queue clear.
