Transformation Fails With: Error In Execution- Numeric Or Value Error: Character String Buffer Too Small (Doc ID 3061839.1)

Symptoms

In a transformation execution some tables are failing with the error:

Job failed with error(s).  :: <time stamp>
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
ORA-06512: at "<trigger schema>.<trigger name>", line 12
ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger '<trigger schema>.<trigger name>'
ORA-06512: at "<package schema>.<package name>", line 164
ORA-06512: at line 1

These tables had worked previously and there were no updates made to table structure or transformations.
