Symptoms
For a particular item, supply/demand for the end item is correctly shown in the planners workbench - MRPSCPWB - but for one or two of the lower level make item components, planned order demand is shown, but no supply orders (planned orders) are being generated to satisfy the demand. Further review yielded a warning message on the problem item in the MRCNEW - Memory Based Planner log file as follows:
The value of profile option 'MRP_EXPL_DEM_THROUGH_PHANTOM' is Y
WARNING: Due to possible loops and resolving it, the following item has errors in pegging : item_id 21644, disposition_id 62514

inv item id = 21644, in this case, turned out to be finished good item name = B42796-1. This happens to be the next higher assembly for the problem item which is has demand planned orders, but no supply planned orders. The following loop data was found in one of the memory based snapshot workers - MRCNSW (It can also be found at times in Memory Based Snapshot - MRCNSP as it performs snapshot work, as well):
A loop has been detected in the bill of materials for item B42765-1 (Id=437414)
