Cannot Get the Plan Name after Deal Purchase

Consider a scenario as below :
An Account has an existing plan/deal/product .
First, canceled the existing deal and then purchased a new deal. The plan object is now not associated with the new product, hence, user cannot get the plan name from the product information. What is the explanation for this?
