ORA-01455 Errors Returned In RDBMS 10g For OFSA SQLTalk Queries On Number Columns > 32k (Doc ID 437649.1)

This problem can occur on any platform.


On OFSA 4.5.39, when attempting to run a query in SQLTalk (select * from all_tables;) on RDBMS 10g instance the following error occurs:

ORA-01455: converting column overflows integer datatype

Steps To Reproduce:

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Connect to 10g instance
2. Run the following query in SQLTalk:

select num_rows, table_name from all_tables where num_rows > 32000;

The event='10499 trace name context forever, level 10'  workaround for similar 9i issue documented in <Note.258083.1> Cannot Query Numeric Field with No Specified Scale in SQLTALK in RDBMS 9i does not work with this issue.

Due to this issue, users cannot run queries on columns defined as NUMBER with no precision with values returned >32K.
