This problem can occur on any platform.
In Enterprise Performance Foundation Administrator, when running a General Ledger (GL) Hierarchy transfer rule, the following error appears in the View Log:
A dimension member cannot be assigned to multiple parents.
The following flexfield values have multiple parents specified for them.
Please update the hierarchy definition in the General Ledger.
The child PROJ1 has the following parents: PROJOTH, TPROJ
The child PROJ2 has the following parents: PROJOTH, TPROJ
The child PROJ3 has the following parents: PROJOTH, PROJSAL
The child PROJ4 has the following parents: PROJOTH, PROJSAL
Process registration has failed.
However, the child values listed in the log (PROJ1, PROJ2, etc.) are parent values and, in General Ledger, actually are not included under both parents (ex. PROJOTH, TPROJ) because one parent excludes them using the "Include Child Values Only" parameter in the "Define Child Ranges" screen.
The Hierarchy Rule is ignoring the "Include Child Values Only" parameter used in GL and including parent values under both parents.
